Meet Cheryl Byquist
Title: Architectural Product Representative for California
How she describes her role: I assist architects with finding the best products for each unique project. I try to be take the burden off of my architects by helping mold the specification to the specific job, but also making sure it’s the best of quality with the budget and ultimate vision in mind. The architects I work with know I will always give them quick, honest, reliable responses to the different variety of products and where they fit in each project, creating an everlasting relationship.
Tenure at CornellCookson: I’ve been with CornellCookson six months. Previously I had my own architectural rep company with several different manufacturers and the bulk being fire and security door and tech design for very large customers in California and Nevada.
Most memorable/favorite project: A firm I wanted to build a relationship with responded to an email inquiry for doors on a stadium in northern California. The more I spoke with the architect the more we were able to brainstorm about the specific look they were envisioning.. We were able to do a unique design with unique doors and make doors especially for the stadium. It’s been the most fulfilling project I’ve worked on so far.
On her career growth: I’ve been in the design build construction industry assisting with specifications and unique designs for 20 years. I love it and learn more about the needs of end users and architects every day, on every project. I hope to keep building my knowledge to help create and execute vision forever.
If Cheryl could do another job for just one day: I don’t know if there would be another career I would want, I love what I do!
