On the shores of Liberty Lake, Washington, a new Bangkok Thai Asian restaurant is serving up more than just authentic cuisine—it's also showcasing stunning design. The owners wanted a space that felt open and connected to the patio. However, with a design vision that included dramatic, low-hanging light fixtures and a unique HVAC system, a traditional garage door just wouldn't do.

Partnering with Continental Door Company, the restaurant found the perfect solution: two VertiStack® Clear Doors from Clopay Corporation. These aren’t your average doors. Instead of rolling back on overhead tracks, the sections neatly stack vertically, creating a clean, seamless look that preserves the restaurant's design. The result? A Door Designed for All Seasons

The Pacific Northwest has long, variable winters, so the restaurant needed doors to accommodate the climate. VertiStack Doors were chosen to maintain a comfortable interior when closed. The VertiStack doors were custom-configured with foamed-in-place polyurethane insulation and tongue-and-groove meeting rails with integrated joint seals.

To further boost energy efficiency, the doors were fitted with insulated, tempered, and low-E glazing. This combination of features means the restaurant stays warm and cozy inside, even when the weather outside is frightful.

Space-Saving Design

The restaurant’s owner had a clear vision for the interior design, which included more than 40 custom crystal light fixtures suspended from the ceiling. A traditional overhead door’s horizontal tracks would have interfered with the placement of these beautiful lights, as well as the building’s HVAC drops.

The VertiStack doors were the perfect fit, eliminating the need for bulky tracks and freeing up valuable ceiling space. When open, the door sections stack vertically above the opening, taking up minimal room and creating an uninterrupted visual flow. This unique design also gets rid of hinges, cables, and tracks, creating a clean, modern aesthetic that is as impressive as it is functional.
