The Cookson Company FDO-RM motor operator is a fully automatic failsafe device that will allow a fire door to close in the event of alarm activation without releasing any spring tension or disengaging the motor from the fire door drive mechanism. This means that the fire door never has to be reset after an alarm activation or fire door test. This simplified design includes a built in governing device that controls the descent of the door during alarm activation to no greater than 9” per second. Fire Doors that have the FDO-RM motor operator can be tested and reset as often as desired without needing trained door technicians to mechanically reset the fire door.

Untested drop out mechanisms on existing fire doors can prevent the door from closing properly during an emergency. These antiquated systems can descend at speeds exceeding 24" per second, create a hazardous condition for occupants, and are costly to test and reset. Simple-Test Retrofit Fire Door Operators control the rate of descent not to exceed 12" per second and allow testing to be performed as frequently as desired. The Cookson FD-2A and FD-3A Auto-Test™ Fire Door Systems auto-matically reset after an alarm activation. Once the alarm has been cleared, the FD-2A or FD-3A automatically resets and is immediately ready for the next test or alarm activation. The need to reset the fire door is eliminated. The Cookson Company offers 3 Firefly™ releasing devices to meet the various needs of building alarm systems. Firefly™ releasing devices are solid state and come with a variable alarm time delay factory preset to 10 seconds, but can be field set to a maximum of 60 seconds. Upon the activation of a smoke detector or central alarm system, the Firefly™ releasing device will not release the fire door until the time delay has elapsed. If the smoke detector or central alarm system is reset before the time delay has elapsed, the door will not automatically close. The time delay feature is to prevent the closing of fire doors due to power brownouts.

Cookson rolling grilles are an example of Cookson's uncompromised commitment to quality and value. The grille curtains are still made of 5/16" solid aluminum rods rather than hollow rods used by other manufacturers. The links are 1/8" or 3/16 thick aluminum shapes rather than thinner gauge materials. The links are kept in position by composite tube spacers rather than inexpensive fasteners. The aluminum extruded guides and bottom bars are still made of heavy-walled shapes.

The Cookson Company, Inc. introduces a rolling service door that can be operated while under a wind load. Most rolling service doors are designed to withstand a specified wind load when closed but cannot operate under a wind load. The Wind-Master Operational Wind Load Service Door can be both opened and closed while being subjected to a 60 MPH wind. Don’t let the wind dictate when a door can be used. The Cookson Wind-Master Operational Wind Load Door can be used when most rolling doors have to remain in the open or closed position. |
